About the Menagerie

My New York Menagerie is a local guide to the little town that I call home.  As an Australian living in New York, I receive emails every day from friends, friends of friends, and friends of friends of friends seeking advice about their upcoming visit to the city. I hope my blog will encourage people to look beyond the tourist traps, and instead explore the incredible local treasures that New Yorkers are utterly addicted to.

If you want advice on Times Square or how to get to Century 21, this blog is definitely not for you.

“You come to New York to find the ambiance that will evoke your best. You do not necessarily know precisely what that might be, but you come to New York to discover it.”  – Dr James Hillman
